N.O.R.C - National Oval Racing Commission is the largest Oval Racing body in the country and is affliated with M.S.A (Motorsport  South Africa) and the F.I.A.

Dunswart Oval Raceway is a tar surface 350m in circumference and is banked on both corners.

The track is located on the corner of Atlas Rd & Main Reef Rd, Benoni - which is about 15 mins drive from JHB International Airport.

Meetings are held on Saturday evenings in the Summer and on Saturday afternoons in the winter. (See the dates page for 2001 events).
Entrance fee is R20 for adults and R10 for kids.

There is an on site bar and kitchen as well as vendors selling photos, badges, caps, t-shirts, models, stickers, popcorn and biltong (jerky).

The bar is also open every wednesday nite and is well frequented by the drivers as this is also a free practice evening. All are welcome to attend - See you there!

History
The track was originally built in 1913 as a Horse Racing facility - which many years later moved to Gosforth Park. In 1968 the track was tarred and became the Dunswart Oval Raceway. Those of you who wondered what the unused buildings were near the entrance, you can now tell your friends - they are stables dating from 1913!
The Website
It started as a joke last November where Mr Magoo said that it was possible to host a website without spending a cent - and HERE IT IS, not a cent was spent on this site! It is deliberately without frills to keep it as fast as possible on South Africa's terrible phone lines. At present it amounts to about 115 pages of HTML code and text. Don't ask how long to scan the pics because wer'e still busy!

This unfortunately is how we pay the rent, it is a neccessary evil on the web - we get the site gratis and they stick an advert on each page.
Afrikaans
A few people have complained that there is no Afrikaans in this site. Sorry folks but this site is global and our overseas visitors kannie understand what is going on! We are after all elftalig aren't we?
